Theo and Freda -visitors from The Far Far North

Theo and Freda were Norma and Chester's very good friends and neighbours on Prince of Wales Island in the Torres Strait. This is their first visit to Christmas Creek -  to much joy, chat and celebration!

The Sirens' Rocks Today

This is the Sirens Pool today, beautifully clear, and the big rocks well above the water; makes it easier to see where Jackson was standing! (refer to previous recent posts).
The bush is full of birds celebrating the return of the sunshine and everything is just so green - a truly delightful walk down to check it out.

Siren's Pool Boulder Conspiracy

Here's Jackson on top of one of the boulders in Siren's Pool taken at Easter this year and here's a photo taken by Nell earlier this month of Siren's Pool after all the rain. I've been trying to work it out. My theory is that where Jackson is standing is the boulder on the left in the picture to the right... and the other boulder has moved closer to it from the right with the force of the water. What do you think?

Malika

I was thinking to myself that Christmas Creek must have a strong magnetism for people with extraordinarily good looking genes what with all the kids being so gorgeous.

The adults are probably equally as gorgeous but for the shroud of early mornings, late nights, home brew, red wine and camping beds... which taints us slightly.

Rudy - unawares

Taking a picture of Rudy has become something of a task as he now treats a camera pointed at him like some kind of sniper and performs lightning quick "drop and roll" manoeuvres to get away.  My secret to a decent Rudy picture is to sneak around the side making sure there are no dry twigs or leaves underfoot.

Our Jester, his Beautiful Assistant and his three little Apprentices.

Here's our wonderful Christmas Creek Jester and family, including new babe - who was far from a gleam in her father's eye last visit - but a definite bump in her mummum's tum.

More Water!

The first photo (by Heidi) was taken down the creek before the bitumen, and the last is "up the creek" showing the last crossing before the National Park (photo by Maree).

Sue and Bernie came home to this from a great week in Thailand - their thoughtful rellies had left their big ute on this side of the lowest crossing so en route home they transferred into this: there are no photos so I will try to paint a word picture - reaching the low crossing, they tied a rope onto the ute and with Maree and Rob "minding" on the other side, worked their way through the raging water.
And "How deep was it Bernie?" "Scrotum high!" Well, Bernie is tall and the water very cold so you get the message I guess. I didn't ask Sue!!!!

The creek is still raging but most people are now more or less "free".

A Bit of Rain Down Here

Finally cleared enough for me to take some photos, and 'cos I am paranoid about getting my camera wet, the water had started to drop a bit- but not too much; first photo is the full dam taken from slum city verandah, then the first crossing up from Nell and G's- note the branch which has become stuck in one of the pipes, then there is the outflow from the Siren's pool which divides into two channels and finally, the Siren's pool itself.
(Now, it is pouring rain once more.)

Not Autumn Leaves -but Silky Oaks in Spring!

With the trough about to intensify above us, thought it might be a bit wet and wild to take me and my camera outside to catch the silky oaks at their height, so found a couple of "golden oldies" from a few years ago; all is the same - except haven't seen a patch of blue for weeks.

Upgrade of Facilities!

Graham has been busy playing with the new bobcat and has doubled the seating for the Theatre in the Round"; he has also created a play pen round the fire with sides which swing back for easy cooking access.

'tho drunks uncos and toddlers were all in mind, concerned parents can choose whether to place their offspring inside or out!

Input from the (self appointed) management committee welcome!
